    Is there a reason as to why fair use, fair dealing, or any other country's iteration doesn't seem to apply to music in any way?

    • @zzzzzzzzzzzzz3545
      @zzzzzzzzzzzzz3545 3 месяца назад

      Fair use applies to music in U.S copyright law but it’s not explicitly defined so it kind of just depends on whether or not the copyright holder can make a compelling case and if there is money to be made. Slightly different in the DMCA age since this process is automated to protect websites from being responsible legally for what users upload. Copyright is pretty busted in general lol

    Tracklib is for people that don't know how the industry works and who are deliberately being made scared that even the slightest uncleared use of a sample in their anonymous track will send a whole army of bloodthirsty lawyers after them. While the reality is that nobody cares about your pathetic track with 200 views because there is simply no money to be made here from starting a lawsuit.
    Only when your track happens to go viral and the tens of millions of views start pouring in will you start seeing copyright claims. And the deal then will almost always be that you simply seize any income from that track. Which is perfectly fine because now you're an acclaimed artist and you can start making money on your second track.

    • @playpm
      @playpm  3 месяца назад +4

      That's definitely one way to go. But some of our band work was licensed to TV shows and movies, we need to make sure it doesn't have royalty issue. Also from my experience, one can't always go viral, but once you do, better be prepared in advance.

      Any and all subscription services rely on most of their paying clients to fund the benefits that few people will actually use. If it was only a matter of clearing a sample or acquiring rights, you can do it for only the projects you're working with that actually need those permissions. TL is like a gym membership, sure it works if you actually sell any music. But as a business model, their ideal customer is one that pays for something they don't need. Like all the other music gear companies this channel was famous for pocking fun at.

    • @Drrolfski
      @Drrolfski 3 месяца назад +2

      @@OG_Mereles That's really the irony of it. This channel that is famous for showing people that they don't need to spend money is now promoting paid services that 99% of the wannabe producers and artists simply never need.

    • @OG_Mereles
      @OG_Mereles 3 месяца назад +1

      The (claimed) concept is bonkers. Imagine scaring people who are learning to play guitar with the idea that they need to pay a monthly fee while studying a song just in case someday they'll book a concert and actually play it. TL has some built in, innovative, useful features that are worth paying, but their spiel is deceptive like its always the case when there's monetary gain to achieve.

      Let's review the facts. There's a company that sells an online subscription service and strikes a deal with an influencer where he gives his opinion on whether or not his subscribers need to sign up for said service. Oh, and the influencer gets a benefit if people use their link. Yeah, completely unbiased. @@Drrolfski

      @@DrrolfskiWho is the target audience of this video? Sample-based producers who want to release music without being sued. What year was this video made? It was made in 2024? Why is that relevant? Machine learning algorithms can detect copywrited audio. Why is Tracklib a solution? The source audio is cleared.
